Gaelic Star is a Gaelic football county manager career for iPhone, out since 4 September 2026. You take a county, you name your fifteen, and then you play the match in 3D under the 2025 rules, with the solo, the hand pass, the high catch and the two-pointer from outside the arc. You can simulate a game instead if you are short of time. It is free, there are no in-app purchases and no ads, and every one of the thirty-two counties is available from first launch. It was made by one person in Ireland.

The facts

There is no Android release yet. It is in closed testing and there is no date for it.

Screenshots and art

Eight screenshots and the app icon are on the App Store listing, and that is the same set used everywhere. They are captured from the game on a phone at 2868 by 1320, landscape, with no marketing text laid over them. The eight cover:

• The career you are picking back up, with your county and the month you are in.
• Team select before a match, two counties with their colours and their shields.
• The county hub: the next fixture, your fitness and morale, and how the board feel.
• The team sheet with the fifteen named by line, each man rated in stars.
• A match in play from the wide angle, with the scoreboard and the on-screen controls.
• A match in play from low down, with the full stand behind the goal.
• A free being taken.
• A man carrying the ball through the middle.

Three things that might be the story

A sport this size, and almost nothing to play it on

Gaelic football is played in all thirty-two counties and there is almost nothing to play it on. That is the reason this was built. It is free, it is on the phone people are already carrying, and the match is a full fifteen a side you play yourself rather than a result the game hands you.

You play the ball that decides it

It is a manager career, and you also play the football. Management games watch from the stand. This one puts you over the free from the 45 with the county's season on it, and then puts you back at the desk on the Monday to live with what happened. You are the manager the whole way through. You never play as one of the fifteen.

One person, and nothing to buy

It was built by one person in Ireland. There are no in-app purchases, no ads, no energy timer and no second currency. Every county, every save and every part of the game is there from the first launch.

What it is not

Gaelic Star is an independent game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Gaelic Athletic Association. It is not licensed by anybody.

The county names and the county colours are real and they are used descriptively, the way a place name is used. Everything else that identifies anything is invented: the crests, the clubs, the competition names, the grounds, the sponsor on the jersey and every single player. There are no real footballers in the game and no real competition branding anywhere in it.
