Armagh Minors crowned Champions again after 60 years

Armagh Minors Celebrate

It hasn’t been a vintage year for Minor football, but Armagh have shown glimpses of first class performances which bodes well for Armagh football. Late points from McAlinden, Carragher and the speedy Robbie Tasker was the difference that gave Paul McShanes minors the victory over a gallant Mayo team.

Mayo put in a strong performance but a few key players didn’t live up to their ability and although they led in the first half, Armagh pulled away and finished the stronger team. Armagh should have been further ahead but after a string of poor wides they eventually hit form and secured the win.

Paul McShane said after the match “I said these were a special bunch of players and they proved it today.”

“This is fantastic for Armagh football – the county had been buzzing all week”
