He is first class. And yes, its great to see Kildare doing so well. A great team to watch. Who knows? He might retire if they win the All Ireland! Go out on a high!

Dermot is probably one of the best players on the team along with Johnny Doyle, it was a pitty we were beat by Dublin in the Leinster Finals,i was at it and it wa a great match.
Is he retiring this year?

Hello all.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Mickey Harte and Ulster Bank for supporting the Gaelic Star Magazine on our 1st Anniversary. It has been an exciting year, and hopefully our second year is as successful as the first.

As each month passes we hope to grow and improve with each edition. With prominent GAA sponsors such as
Ulster Bank on board, and a few well known pundits who will be writing for us shortly, the future definately looks bright for the Gaelic Star.

im 17 years old and my football is more or less over for the year. I play wing back. I think Im alright, but my builld is letting me down. im almost 5ft11 and bearly 10 stone. I have very good cardio and can run all day, but my speed and strength is bad. I often get pushed off the ball and my tackles have no impact as there is no power behind them. Obviously I need to improve this but im not sure how to go about it. I was thinking of starting a weight training program but I want to make sure i do it right and not waste my time. Is it possible for me to keep some of my fitness and still gain weight? Also, how do I maintain the muscle mass I will gain when training starts again? Thanks

Totally agree John, a classy player and one that all the youth of not just Kildare but the entire island of Ireland can look up to as a role model.

I have watched Dermot Earley for some years, he is a natural midfielder with great timeing. A great work ethic with leadership qualities and was instrumental in the defeat of Armagh a few years back in the national league in Kildare. He was lighter then but now that McGeeney has him bulked up and in peake condition he is now a greater force to be reckoned with and still improving.A good role model for young players
